Investors' Confidence Levels Dipped In June - State Street Data

Investor confidence declined in June, particularly among those located in Asia and North America, according to new data from Global Exchange.

State Street's Global Investor Confidence Index now stands at 101, down from 102.6 last month as confidence among both Asian and North American investors dipped by 4.4 points and 2 points respectively. 

Meanwhile, confidence among European investors swelled in June, as the European index logged a 1.7 points rise.

The indexes were developed by Kenneth Froot and Paul O'Connell at State Street Associates, State Street's research and advisory business. 

They measure investor confidence or risk appetite quantitatively by analysing buying and selling patterns of institutional investors. A reading of 100 is neutral.

“Even in North America, while the index remains in a ‘risk-on’ territory, the decline in investor confidence was likely driven by intensified concerns around overvaluation, oil prices and the US energy policy, as the Fed delivered its second rate hike in 2017,” Froot said.
